Bullying has become a serious issue in our schools, on the streets, online and on mobile devices. Although bullying has always been around, it is now taking different forms and occurs throughout age groups. Besides being called names on the playground, in the hallways and on the bus, kids are being harassed through text messages or on social networks.
Is this new form of bullying any worse? Not if we teach our children how to deal with being bullied as well as being a bully. The victims need to know a course of action to take if they are harassed and the bullies need to understand the consequences of their actions, which can be very serious for themselves and the person they bully. Teaching our kids to use technology responsibly is one key to solving this problem.
