Celebrate this month's feature with your class by using one of the lessons below:

Early Childhood: The Life of Abraham Lincoln
Students will correctly answer, in complete sentences, 6 questions about Abraham Lincoln, using the information on the Web site.

Elementary School: Heroes Among Us
Students will read about different types of heroes from the Web sites below and create a chart on poster board containing characteristics they believe a hero possesses. Students will then write a 1-page essay describing a person they have chosen for their hero. Students will read their essay in front of the class.

Middle School: Become a World Citizen
Students will research issues affecting the world. Then, they will write a letter to a friend giving ideas on how to help resolve these issues and try to persuade their friend to get involved.

High School: Human Rights
Students will write a newsletter on what human rights are, the history of the human rights movement and what constitutes a violation of human rights. Students will include articles explaining human rights, the history of the movement and a specific case that demonstrates the violation of human rights. Also incorporated into the newsletter will be a 5-question/answer interview with a human rights leader or a person who has had their human rights violated.
