Marionettes
A marionette is a puppet controlled from above by strings. The characters Pinocchio and Howdy Doody are two of the best known marionettes. You will watch a 9 minute video about marionettes and then you will create a marionette of your own.
1. Click on the "Marionettes" link below.
2. Click on "Play Video."
3. View the video and on a piece of paper, answer in complete sentences the three questions at the end.
4. Click on the "How to Make a Marionette" link below and carefully follow the steps in the left column to create your own marionette.
5. When your marionette is complete, practice working with the strings to make the marionette move.
You will be displaying your marionettes to the class.

Objective:
Students will watch a video about marionettes, including how they are made, what they are made of, and how they work. Students will answer three questions about puppetry at the end of the video. Students will then follow step-by-step directions to create a marionette of their own.
