World News for Spanish Speakers

Go to the following Web site, select a news article, read and listen to it.

In a word processor, using your own words, summarize the article. Besure to cover who, what, where, when and why.

Lesson Name:   World News for Spanish Speakers
Objective:   Spanish speaking students will read and listen to an article from the world news in English. They will study the vocabulary in bold letters and print the article. They will then type, in a word processor, sentences and/or questions using the vocabulary from the article.

Interactive Whiteboard Tip:   Display the news story from the Web site on the interactive whiteboard. Have students read their summary of the story aloud to the class. Have the class ask questions to the student about the article.
