Once Upon a Time

Click on the Folktales link below and read the description of a folktale. Then click on and read the tale "Why is the Sky so High."

Click on the Fairytales link below and read the description of a fairytale. Then click on and read "The Emperor's New Clothes."

When you have completed reading both tales, open a word processor document and make a 2-column table.

- Click on Table in the menu bar
- Click on Insert
- Select Table
- Change the number of columns to two
- Click OK
- Enter in the top left side the word Similarities
- Enter in the top right side the word Differences

Fill in the table with the differences and similarities of folktales and fairytales.

Objective:   Students will gain knowledge and see examples of folktales and fairytales. Then, using a word processor, students will make a chart of the differences and similarities between folktales and fairytales.

Interactive Whiteboard Tip:   Have the students read the folktale and fairytale aloud from the Web sites on the interactive whiteboard. When completed, they can also share their tables with the class on the whiteboard.
