Name Book

Using a piece of construction paper and crayons, draw a picture of yourself. This will be the cover of your "Name Book."

Click on the "Alphabet" link below. Click on and print the letters that spell your name.

Using magazines cut out pictures of items that begin with each letter of your name. Glue the pictures on the page with the matching letter.

When you have finished pasting your pictures on your letters, click on the "Paper" link below and print a practice sheet of paper. Practice writing your name on the lines.

Staple all your papers together in the following order:
- Drawing of yourself

- Each letter in the order to spell your name

- Practice paper with your name written on it

Lesson Name:   Name Book
Objective:   Students will learn how to spell their name. Students will use alphabet printouts from the illustrator Jan Brett to assemble a book that spells their name. Students will find and cut out pictures from magazines to glue on each page that begin with each letter. Students will then practice writing their names using lined paper.

Interactive Whiteboard Tip:   When the children have finished practicing writing their name on paper, open the notebook software for the interactive whiteboard. Invite students to come up to the whiteboard and write their name with the pen/markers.
