Alliterations

When you are done reading, click on the Practice link and click on the sentences that you think are alliterations.
On a piece of paper write the letter assigned to you in the center; then brainstorm words that begin with that letter and write them all around it.
In a word processor, type a 3 - 5 sentence alliteration using the words you brainstormed. Print the alliteration.
On the back of your paper use art supplies to draw a picture that represents your alliteration.

Objective:
Students will learn about the use of alliteration in poetry. Students will then be assigned a letter of the alphabet and be asked to find words that begin with that letter. Students will then write a 3 - 5 sentence alliteration using the words they brainstormed. Students will then draw a picture illustrating their poem using various art supplies.

Interactive Whiteboard Tip:
Display and read through the first Web site on the interactive whiteboard. Display the second link and complete the practice together as a class. Students can draw their pictures in a painting program and display their images on the whiteboard while they read their sentence to the class.
